Why Is KCR Supporting SCS To AP?

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s unusual support to the demand for special category status to Andhra Pradesh raised many eyebrows in the political circles.

First, it was his daughter and Nizamabad MP K Kavitha who extended her solidarity with the agitating parties of Andhra seeking special status to their state.

She received all round appreciation from Andhras and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan particularly thanked her for the support.

Now with KCR himself openly demanding that the Centre should give special category status to AP as promised in the Act, it has triggered a big debate in the political circles.

They raised a question as to why KCR has talked about the demand in AP, rather than asking for what is due to Telangana from the Centre.

“In what way KCR is concerned about the demand for SCS? He should have focussed on several issues that are still pending with the Centre,” a Congress leader asked.

Sources said KCR has a strategy to raise the special category status issue.

First, he wants to snub the Bharatiya Janata Party which is planning to emerge as an alternative to the TRS and tell the people that the BJP never fulfils its promises.

Secondly, by raising the special category status issue, he wants to win the hearts of the Andhra settlers in Telangana, particularly in Hyderabad, before the 2019 elections.

And thirdly, it would also bring the TDP and the TRS together for a friendly contest in the next elections.
