For quite some time, the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, right from party’s national president Amit Shah to official spokesman G V L Narasimha Rao, have been making allegations that the TDP government in AP headed by CM N Chandrababu Naidu had misused Central funds and had submitted fake utilisation certificates.
Despite the counter-attack by Naidu giving clarifications, GVL reiterated the same allegations, so as to expose the TDP’s bluff.
On Monday, GVL even described Naidu as a liar and cheat, who had been indulging in spit and run game against the BJP.
The counter-attack from the TDP continued on Tuesday, too. Naidu’s son and IT minister Nara Lokesh took to twitter to question the authority of GVL.
He wondered who GVL was to say that the UCs submitted by AP are incorrect.
“It is for the departments concerned to raise questions, if they are in improper form. For your information, all the UCs for nearly Rs 1,000 crore spent on backward districts have been submitted and approved,” he said.
Stating that submissions and approval of the UCs are administrative procedures that involve the Central and the state governments, Lokesh alleged that the BJP was trying to politicise the same and portray that AP was misusing funds to tarnish Naidu’s image.
“By the way, submission of UCs has nothing to do with the fulfilment of the promise of Special Category Status to AP,” he pointed out.
He said as of now, the Centre had given Rs 1500 Cr to Amaravati and the government had submitted UCs up to Rs 1583 crore and they were accepted.
“I request GVL to share details of his ‘imaginary projects’ for which Rs 8962 crore was given or accept that he is lying through his teeth,” the IT minister said.
He clarified that no funds were released for Amaravati drainage works. An amount of Rs 460 crore and Rs 540 crore was given to Vijayawada and Guntur respectively.
“Of them, UCs for Rs 349 crore have already been submitted for the work completed until now. Pending work in both cities will be finished by next year,” he said.
