Why Delay In Disqualifying Defectors?

Congress Legislature Party in the Telangana Council on Monday urged chairman K Swamy Goud to take immediate decision on the defection of Congress MLCs to the ruling TRS on Monday.

After submitting a reminder to Swamy Goud, Telangana CLP Whip M S Prabhakar Rao stated the Chairman should maintain the dignity of the chair by not encouraging this type of activities in the House. Prabhakar accused Swamy Goud of dancing to the tunes of one political party. He observed that “law makers were becoming law breakers”.

Reminding that they had submitted petitions to the Chair in July 2014 against the defected nine MLCs to the TRS, Prabhakar alleged that even after seven months, the petitions were kept pending with the Chairman.

Pointing out that the tenure of eight defectors will come to an end by March 2015, Prabhakar observed that the Council chairman was duty bound to initiate immediate steps to disqualify the defected leaders.

The MLCs also explained to the Chairman that the High Court, in its final order on this issue, had clearly suggested that the Chairman take a decision according to the law.
