Now that the Congress party is more or less being wound up in Andhra Pradesh, all the party leaders are looking for alternatives to safeguard their political future.
Some are looking towards the Telugu Desam Party and others towards the YSR Congress party or the Bharatiya Janata Party.
This has led to speculations as to which way megastar Chiranjeevi will go.
At present, he is in the Congress party and has been enjoying his Rajya Sabha membership which will expire in April next year.
What will he do after that? Will he officially relinquish politics once and for all or continue in politics by choosing to defect to one party or the other.
According to speculations doing rounds in one section of media, Chiranjeevi will quit politics and concentrate on full-time acting.
There is also a talk that he might not be active in politics, but will extend support to his brother Pawan Kalyan who will get into full time politics with his Jana Sena Party in 2019 elections.
His another brother Naga Babu also might take a plunge into politics with Jana Sena.
However, according to latest talk, the TDP leadership is also keen on roping Chiranjeevi into the ruling party by offering him Rajya Sabha ticket in his second term.
On behalf of TDP president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, his cabinet colleague Ganta Srinivasa Rao is said to be negotiating with Chiranjeevi.
Since Pawan Kalyan is also discreetly extending support to the TDP, Chiranjeevi’s entry will bolster the party prospects, as both the brothers can mobilise the support of Kapu votes for the TDP.
But, there is also a talk that YSRC president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is also in touch with Chiranjeevi and he has also offered Rajya Sabha ticket to the megastar.
Apparently, Jagan’s advisor and MP V Vijay Sai Reddy has already struck the deal with Chiranjeevi and it will be finalised once Jagan returns from his London trip.
So, Chiranjeevi has multiple options. Which option he would choose has to be watched.
