What Did Pranab Tell Jagan, Actually?

The other day, YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy met President Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapathi Bhavan in New Delhi and submitted him a memorandum seeking his intervention in the Centre granting special category status to Andhra Pradesh. And Pranab spent some time with Jagan personally.

Naturally, Jagan would expect that his meeting with the President of India would get some positive coverage in the media, since it was about the special status to AP. While the English media more or less ignored it, the Telugu papers, mostly pro-Chandrababu Naidu, gave an insignificant coverage to it.

What is worse, yellow media like Eenadu and Andhra Jyothy gave completely irritating news about the meeting. They said Pranab had praised the Chandrababu Naidu government before Jagan, stating that Naidu was doing wonderful job with his innovative schemes like Pattiseema and Jagan was thoroughly disappointed with Pranab’s behaviour.

While Sakshi did not react to the yellow media reports, but YSR Congress party leaders translated the news reports of Eenadu and AJ and sent them to Pranab seeking to know whether he had really praised Naidu. Naturally, there would be no denial from Pranab.

So, somebody suggested that Sakshi should carry a story countering the yellow media, stating that Pranab had all praise for Jagan and was eager to see the latter as the chief minister, since Naidu was doing the worst job.

“In any case, Pranab would not deny this report also,” he suggested. What an idea, sirji!
