Vizag Seer Brokering BJP-YSRC Deal?

Vizag Seer Brokering BJP-YSRC Deal?

That all is not well between the ruling Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh and its ally Bharatiya Janata Party is now an open secret.

In fact, TDP president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu openly said a couple of days ago that if the BJP did not want to continue the alliance, the TDP would simply say good bye.

It is also an open secret that the YSR Congress party is sending feelers to the BJP for an alliance.

Its president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy himself said his party was not averse to forging an alliance with the BJP. Though he put a rider that the alliance would materialise if the NDA agrees to grant special category status, it is like Dharmaraja in Mahabharata war saying Kunjara: in low tone, while loudly shouting: “Ashwatthama Hatha:”

Now, the TDP leaders are suspecting that the BJP leaders have stepped up attack on the chief minister and the ruling party only after getting into a secret pact with the

YSRC. To buttress their suspicion, they are showing a photograph which has been in circulation for the last few days, in which BJP legislator Somu Veerraju holding a meeting with YSRC MP V Vijay Sai Reddy in the presence of Visakha Sarada Peetham seer Swaroopanandendra Swamy.

It is not exactly known when the meeting took place, but the TDP leaders are of the view that the Swamiji had brokered the alliance deal between the YSRC and the BJP.

They say the Swamiji is known for his support to Jaganmohan Reddy, having conducted homams and pujas for the latter at Rishikesh and Visakhapatnam in the past.

However, as the BJP leaders said and everybody is aware, it is not Somu Veerraju or Hari Babu who decides the alliance between the two parties.

It is the BJP central leadership and Prime Minister Narendra Modi who decide whether to break or continue the alliance with the TDP or make an alliance with the YSRC.

So, the meeting between Veerraju and Sai Reddy does not have much significance, unless the talks were held at the behest of the top BJP leadership.
