With the proposed “maha dharna” of the Opposition parties led by YSR Congress party at Visakhapatnam on June 22 to mount pressure on the State government to order for a CBI probe into the massive land scam, the Telugu Desam Party, too, has decided to launch a counter-offensive.
On the same day of the maha dharna, TDP has announced a programme called Maha Sankalpam to appeal to the people to take a pledge to thwart the attempts of the YSR Congress party to stall the development in the state.
While YSRC’s Maha Dharna would be held at Greater Visakha Municipal Corporation office, the TDP will be organizing its Maha Sankalpam on the beach road.
The maha dharna is expected to be attended by hundreds of party workers, besides those of CPI, CPI (M) and Lok Sabha.
And the TDP is planning to mobilise 5,000 party workers for the Maha Sankalpam.
This is likely to lead a big clash in the port city and ultimately might lead to law and order issues.
The TDP is also planning to fill up the entire Visakhapatnam city with hoardings highlighting the alleged corrupt practices of Jagan and his jail life.
There would be black flag demonstrations against Jagan all over the city.
“Apparently, Naidu wants to see that the people’s focus is shifted from the real issue to the fight between the ruling and the opposition parties,” a party leader said.
