Vivek Opts Out, Sarvey In Race For Warangal Seat

Telangana State Congress party Affairs in-charge Digvijaya Singh today said his party would announce its candidate for the Warangal by-election in two or three days.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Thursday, Digvijaya Singh said he elicited the opinions of party leaders on the issue.

He also held a special meeting with Vinod and Vivek brothers at Gandhi Bhavan and discussed with them on the Warangal by-election. It is learnt that Vivek was not interested to contest the by-election.

The party high command tried its best to convince him on contesting the bye-election. Making it clear that he would not contest by-elections, Vivek suggested to Digvijaya to give the party ticket to former Union Minister Surve Sathyanarayana.

When asked, Surve Sathyanarayana told the AICC general secretary that he was ready to contest in the Warangal by-election.

Digvijaya had a meeting with the Warangal District Congress leaders and collected their opinions on choosing a candidate to be fielded in Warangal.

Digvijaya also conferred with Greater Hyderabad party leaders — Danam Nagender, D Sudheer Reddy, Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, K Mallesh and others.

On the occasion, Danam complained to the AICC leader that the party leaders were not informing him on party activities.
