Verraju To Become Andhra BJP Chief?

Contrary to the talk doing rounds in the Andhra Pradesh political circles that former endowments minister P Manikyala Rao would become the president of state Bharatiya Janata Party, firebrand party legislator Somu Veerraju is likely to get into the post.

This was stated by none other than Manikyala Rao himself, when the Telugu Desam Party leaders congratulated him in the assembly lobbies on Monday.

State power minister Kala Venkat Rao and state women’s commission chairperson Nannapaneni Rajakumari, who came across Manikyala Rao in the lobbies greeted him saying: “Welcome, our new enemy. And congratulations.”

To this, Manikyala Rao responded saying: “No, no.. I am not becoming the state BJP chief. Veerraju is going to get the post.”

When the TDP leaders reminded him about the talk in the BJP circles about his elevation, the former minister said: “I am not interested. In fact, I suggested Veerraju’s name for the State BJP chief post. He is the best person to take on the TDP.”

Present BJP president Kambhampati Hari Babu, who was considered to be closer to the TDP than the BJP, has quietly disappeared from the scene after the party high command appointed Ram Madhav as the party in-charge of Andhra Pradesh.
