TRS Leader Finds Place In Cong Panel!

TRS Leader Finds Place In Cong Panel!

That the Congress high command doesn’t have the understanding of its grassroots functioning was once again evident with the constitution of new committees for the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee on Wednesday.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi appointed nine associated committees for the PCC, including core committee, coordination committee, campaign committee, pradesh election committee, manifesto committee, strategy and planning committee, LDMRC committee, election commission coordination committee and disciplinary action committee.

So far so good. Surprisingly, the name of former assembly Speaker K R Suresh Reddy appears as one of the members in the PCC coordination committee, manifesto committee and a couple of other committees.

This looks silly because Suresh Reddy had defected to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi nearly 10 days ago and is actively participating in the TRS programmes. He is even being tipped to become a Rajya Sabha member.

So, it is surprising as to how his name was included in the PCC committees. In fact, the 53-member coordination committee is headed by AICC general secretary in-charge of Telangana R C Khuntia, while PCC chief Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy is its convenor. They should have been consulted before Rahul Gandhi approved the list.

Apparently, Suresh Reddy’s name was automatically proposed, as all the MPs, MLAs, former ministers, former MPs and former MLAs would be part of these committees.

But, before releasing the list to the media, the AICC or PCC should have verified it twice, lest they become laughing stock!
