Many Congress MPs who fought for Telangana ended up losing during the recently concluded general elections.
Incidentally, apart from creating a furore within the House, they also staged dharnas on the steps of the Parliament.
Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar, Nizamabad MP Madhu Yashki, Warangal MP Sirisilla Rajayya, Peddapalli MP G Vivek, Nagar Kurnool MP Manda Jagannadham, Nalgonda MP Gutta Sukhender Reddy were among those who staged protests on the steps of the Parliament.
However, barring Sukhender Reddy, no other member has been re-elected.
In fact, Manda Jagannadham jumped into TRS prior to the elections. He still lost.
Similarly, union minister Sarve Satyanarayana who made long speeches in support of a separate Telangana state could not recover his deposit.
Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao who made passionate speeches in the Parliament regarding Telangana too lost out on his deposit.
Surprisingly, Nandi Ellaiah, who stayed away from the Telangana issue, has won his seat. Jaipal Reddy who claims to have done the ground work for the formation of a separate Telangana state too had to face defeat.
Given this background, some leaders like Ponnam Prabhakar are wondering as to what went wrong in their case.
