Pinnelli out of jail after 99 days, vows to take revenge

Senior YSR Congress party leader and former Macherla MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy was released from Nellore Central Jail on Thursday after spending nearly 99 days in custody in connection with a double murder case.

Ramakrishna Reddy, who had been arrested as an accused in the case, was granted bail by a Gurazala court on Wednesday.

Following the court’s order, he walked out of prison amid a large gathering of party leaders and supporters who assembled outside the jail premises to accord him a grand welcome.

Speaking to the media after his release, Ramakrishna Reddy alleged that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-led coalition government had foisted “false cases” against him out of political vendetta.

He categorically denied any involvement in the double murder incident that occurred in Veldurthi mandal, asserting that the crime was the result of a factional clash between rival groups within the TDP itself.

He further stated that even the then Superintendent of Police had earlier indicated that the murders stemmed from inter-group rivalry, not from any conspiracy involving him. Despite this, he alleged, he was deliberately implicated in the case.

Expressing anguish over his incarceration, the YSRCP leader said he had endured significant mental distress during his 99-day jail term. He warned that those responsible for implicating him would eventually be brought to justice.

“A day will come when we will hold accountable all those behind these false cases, whether they are political leaders or officials. They will have to answer for their actions,” he said, issuing a strong warning.

The case pertains to the brutal killing of two brothers, J.V. Setti Venkateswarlu and J.V. Setti Koteswara Rao, who were associated with the TDP. The incident took place in Gundlapadu village of Veldurthi mandal in May last year.

Police had named Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy as the sixth accused and his brother, Pinnelli Venkatrami Reddy, as the seventh accused in the case.

Following his arrest, Ramakrishna Reddy approached the court for bail, which was granted by the 10th Additional Judge of the Gurazala court, Priyadarshini, on Wednesday.
