Telangana minority institutions, dens of corruption!

The Congress party on Wednesday demanded high level probe into various scams and irregularities that occurred in the Minorities Welfare Department.

In a representation sent to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao and Deputy CM Mohammed Mahmood Ali, the Congress leaders alleged that all institutions under Minorities Welfare Department were not functioning properly and they are engulfed in various irregularities and corruption.

The minority leaders of the Congress party said key departments or institutions like TSMFC, TMERIS and Urdu Academy have turned into dens of corruption and irregularities.

"A few officials are managing the affairs as per their whims and fancies and they are misusing the assets and resources for their personal gains.

Their lack of commitment in implementing schemes meant for minorities' welfare has led to large scale irregularities and major scams which consequently hit poor students and jobless youth of Muslim community," they alleged.

They demanded detailed, independent and impartial probe into the functioning of all departments under Minorities Welfare Department.

"The role of MWD Secretary Syed Omer Jaleel in the scholarship scam should be probed. He is directly or indirectly responsible for major irregularities in various departments. He should be transferred immediately to facilitate an impartial enquiry," they demanded.
