Telangana Journos Upset With KCR

After doing the bhajan of Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for over two years, the media persons in Telangana have started raising their voice against him for treating them like dirt.

It was evident from the way the members of the media accreditation committee, led by Telangana Press Academy chairman Allam Narayana, boycotted the meeting convened by Information and Public Relations Commissioner Naveen Mittal a couple of days ago.

Apparently, they are terribly upset with the restrictions imposed by the government on issuing accreditations and bus passes to media persons.

At the same time, the long-pending demand of issuing Arogyasri health cards to journalists has also been neglected by the KCR government.

During the regime of combined Andhra Pradesh, media persons used to get health insurance to them and their family members by paying a nominal premium amount. After KCR came to power, he cancelled the scheme and announced that journalists would be covered under Arogyasri.

But, till date, it has not materialized and except a few, most of the journalists are yet to get the cards. And even those who got the cards are not getting treatment in corporate hospitals.

And forget about the plots to journalists. The KCR government cancelled the earlier plots allotted by late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, stating that the Telangana journalists would get bigger plots closer to the city. So far, there is no move from the government at all!
