TD MLA gets warrant for burning Naidu effigy!

TD MLA gets warrant for burning Naidu effigy!

A Telugu Desam Party MLA has got a non-bailable warrant from the court in a case pertaining to the burning of the effigy of chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

It may sound a little weird and make one wonder as to why a TDP legislator burnt the effigy of his own party president and chief minister. But, well, he did it when he was in the opposition party a couple of years ago.

He is Kalamata Venkata Ramana, the MLA from Pathapatnam assembly constituency in Srikakulam district, who had defected from YSR Congress party to the TDP later.

During an agitation demanding special category status to Andhra Pradesh, the YSRC activists led by Venkata Ramana burnt Naidu’s effigy in Pathapatnam and got arrested.

Following this, a case was filed in this regard. Though the MLA later migrated to TDP, the case remained.

The court did not acknowledge the defection but continued to issue summons to Venkata Ramana. However, he did not attend the hearing for the case.

Finally on Tuesday, the court issued the arrest warrant against the TDP MLA. It is definitely a tricky situation for him!
