Subbarayudu on his way out from YSRC?

Subbarayudu on his way out from YSRC?

It appears former minister and senior YSR Congress party leader from Narasapuram in West Godavari district Kothapalli Subbarayudu's days are numbered in the party.

For the last few days, Subbarayudu has been creating ripples in the party by strongly opposing the decision of chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to declare Bhimavaram as the district headquarters of newly-formed Narasapuram district, as part of reorganisation of districts.

He is particularly targeting local YSRC MLA Mudunuru Prasada Raju for failing to make Narasapuram as the district headquarters.

He led a road-roller rally in Narasapuram on Tuesday and earlier, he beat himself with a chappal on the stage as a repentance for working for the victory of Raju in 2019 assembly elections.

It is pretty evident that Subbarayudu is trying to project himself as the party candidate for Narasapuram in the next assembly elections. But it looks like his plans are backfiring as Jagan is said to be very angry with him for opposing the government’s decision on Bhimavaram.

It was evident from the way state information minister Perni Nani, who is in-charge of West Godavari district, lashed out at Subbarayudu on Tuesday.

He said both the YSRC and the state government were strongly condemning Subbarayudu’s actions.

“It is unfortunate that Subbarayudu, who had several positions in the past and had been in politics for a long time, has degraded himself by hitting himself with footwear. He doesn’t know what he is speaking. It is the government’s decision to have Bhimavaram as the headquarters of Narasapuram and the MLAs have nothing to do with it,” Nani said.

He said if Subbarayudu was repenting for joining the YSRC, he should have beaten himself with chappals with several times.

This clearly shows that the YSRC leadership doesn’t want Subbarayudu to continue in the party. In fact, this is the second time that he has been in the YSRC.

After holding several positions in the Telugu Desam Party, including MP, MLA and cabinet minister posts, he plunged into Praja Rajyam Party of megastar Chiranjeevi in 2009, but lost the elections.

Later, in 2014, he joined the YSR Congress party and lost the elections to the TDP from Narasapuram. Subsequently, he returned to the TDP and again before 2019 elections, he quit the TDP and was back in YSRC.

He did not get the party ticket from Narasapuram, but was assured of MLC seat, which he did not get. Since then, he has been upset with the party.

It is learnt, he is eyeing the Jana Sena Party and might contest the next elections from Narasapuram on Jana Sena ticket.
