Silpa Drops Out Of Race For MLC Seat?

Silpa Drops Out Of Race For MLC Seat?

YSR Congress party leader from Kurnool and former MLC Silpa Chakrapani Reddy has made the things easy for party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in the selection of candidate for the forthcoming elections to MLC seat under Kurnool Local Bodies constituency.

Silpa is learnt to have told the party leadership that he would not contest the MLC elections and that it can pick up any other candidate of its choice.

Apparently, Silpa is not keen on spending huge money on buying the voters of the local bodies’ constituency – MPTCs, ZPTCs and sarpanches, who are equally divided between the TDP and the YSRCP.

The arithmetic shows the TDP slightly has an edge and hence, there is no point in wasting money. As such, Silpa is evincing interest in contesting the assembly elections.

This has paved way for Jagan to select his close associate Gouru Venkat Reddy, who had lost to Silpa in the last MLC elections.

Silpa was in the TDP then and Gouru contested on YSRC ticket. And Gouru wields more influence in the local bodies and if he works little hard, he can as well win the MLC elections.

Now, it all depends on who the TDP will field in the elections. With Silpa opting out of the race, Naidu can select a candidate who can put up a strong candidate to defeat Gouru.

Whoever is the TDP candidate, he has to win the support of the other contenders, if he has to win in the MLC elections.
