Republic TV Ratings: Jagan, KCR ahead

Republic TV published the finding of its survey on what the prospects of political parties will be if elections are to be held now across the nation.

In Andhra Pradesh, the survey indicated a 41.3 percent vote share for the YSRCP and 31.2 percent for the Telugu Desam.

Stating that KCR was still the king in Telangana, it predicted a vote share of 31 percent for the TRS although the margin may have decreased since 2014.

What is significant to note here is that these national approval ratings indicate only the current mood i.e. if the polls were to be held in November and with still plenty of time to go, the YSRCP will have one heck of a battle on its hands against the media savvy TDP administration.

However, since Telangana will be going to the polls early, KCR is likely to retain power barring a stunning turnaround by the Opposition which is unlikely if not impossible.

The projections that immediately stick out is the BJP not winning any seats, and the TDP being significantly reduced, if elections were to be held today.

In 2014, in alliance with Naidu's TDP, the BJP had won 2 seats on its own, while the NDA won 17. In the projection, the TDP has lost massively, from 15 seats in 2014 to just 5.

The winner, at the BJP and TDP's expense, is Jagan Mohan Reddy's YSRCP, which had won 8 seats in 2014 but is projected to win 20 seats if polls were held today.

The Congress has been reduced to less than a footnote, staying at zero representation in the Lok Sabha from Andhra Pradesh.
