Why is Union minister for water resources Nitin Gadkari showing so much interest in protecting the interests of Telugu Desam Party MP from Narsaraopet Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, even at the cost of breaking the alliance between the TDP and the Bharatiya Janata Party?
This question is doing rounds in the TDP circles these days. They wonder how Rayapati could manage Gadkari so much that the latter had outright rejected the decision of TDP president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu to go in for fresh tenders for some crucial works of Poalvaram project.
According to sources in Delhi, Rayapati managed to make friendship with Gadkari’s son Nikhil Gadkari who has several companies involved in infrastructure, sugar, power, agro-tech and real estate businesses.
His Purti Group of companies has bagged several projects with Gadkari supporting him in the capacity of Surface Transport and Highways minister in the past.
Now, Rayapati has reportedly joined hands with Nikhil and managed to get into his inner circle. And that was how, he got closer to Gadkari and influenced him in being continued as the contractor for Polavaram.
When he can manage the Central minister himself, where is the need for him to “pamper” Naidu?
