Surprising as it might sound, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president N Raghuveera Reddy on Thursday announced that he will campaign for the Telugu Desam Party in 2019 assembly elections.
Wait, wait, there is a rider in Raghuveera’s statement.
“All that I want is that the TDP government supply water to Kalyanadurgam tank through Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanti scheme.
If it happens within next year, I will campaign for the TDP throughout the state and request the people to vote for Chandrababu Naidu to power again in 2019,” he asserted.
The APCC chief has, in fact, been one of the biggest critics of the Chandrababu Naidu government all these years.
While most of his colleagues deserted him and joined either the TDP or the YSR Congress party, Raghuveera remained in the Congress party and has not tried for any other alternative.
Right from the beginning, he has been contesting from Kalyanadurgam constituency. So by throwing an offer to the TDP that he would support the ruling party if it brings water to Kalyanadurgam tank, Raghuveera appears to have sent a feeler to the TDP that he was ready to join the party.
Since he cannot join unconditionally as it is a matter of prestige for him, the APCC chief has come out with the rider, say sources.
