PIL Filed Against Loan Waiver

Jayaprakash Adusimilli, former MLA from Vijayawada has filed a public interest litigation in the High Court challenging the decision of the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments’ decision to waive off the loans of farmers.

He has requested a stay on the waiver of loans. The waiver is expected to cost Andhra Pradesh Rs 54000 crore and Telangana Rs 20000 crore approximately.

“The decision to grant or waive off a loan rests with the banks. The States have no jurisdiction over this. The business of banking is completely out of the purview of States,” said Jayaprakash in his petition.

Responding to his petition made in good interests, if the Court orders a stay on the loan waiver, then the governments of both the states would conveniently use him as a scapegoat to escape from the problem.

If the petition is struck down, it is the people who will suffer. Either way, both the leaders, Naidu and KCR are safe!
