Pawan May End Up Another Chiranjeevi?

Actor-turned-politician and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan seems to be losing his credibility among the people, especially Kapu community which he belongs to, because of his inconsistent stand on leading the political movement.

At a time when two major political parties – YSR Congress party and Telugu Desam Party – have been aggressively going ahead with their own plans of action with regard to special category status, sometimes trying to outwit each other, Pawan Kalyan is heavily banking on the two Left parties – CPI and CPI (M), which do not have any stakes in Andhra Pradesh and are trying to find support others to sustain their identity.

Especially Kapus of East and West Godavari are said to be terribly upset with Pawan Kalyan, who they expected would take up their cause of reservations in government appointments.

A senior Kapu leader from Vijayawada said the community had a bitter experience with megastar Chiranjeevi, who managed to get some seats for his Praja Rajyam Party only because of the Kapus’ support.

“But later, he disappointed them by merging the PRP with the Congress and completely forgot the Kapu welfare. They are now suspecting that his brother Pawan Kalyan might also ditch them,” he said.

The only option before Kapus before 2019 elections is to support YSR Congress party, since TDP president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has failed to implement Kapu reservations.

“At least, there is some hope that Jagan might solve our issues. If he can come out with some concrete assurances, the Kapus can support him in the next elections,” the Kapu leader said.
