Power star and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan’s meeting with Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on the New Year Day is learnt to have damaged his image among his fans and the people in general in Andhra Pradesh.
Had he met KCR for a few minutes to seek permission to increase the ticket fares for his forthcoming film Agyathavasi, as was speculated in some media, nobody would have faulted him.
But Pawan waited for an hour to meet the chief minister at the latter’s residence and then spent nearly two hours for discussing various issues.
What is worse, after he came out of the meeting, Pawan showered praises on KCR stating that he was the role model for all the chief ministers in the country and that his 24X7 free power supply scheme was the most exciting and people’s friendly decision.
This has angered the Left parties, which were trying to have join hands with Pawan in the next elections in Andhra Pradesh.
For the Andhra TDP leaders, too, it was the most embarrassing to see Pawan, who they treat as their close ally, to praise the chief minister of the neighbouring state.
Needless to say, Pawan’s hobnobbing with KCR might even become a serious political issue and his rivals would definitely take it into the people and accuse him of betraying the cause of Andhra people.
If they exploit this anti-Telangana sentiment, it might definitely hit the winning prospects of Pawan and his party and indirectly, it will have a negative fallout on the TDP prospects as well!
