Will This Film Director Land In Prison?

Renowned stuntman SM Raju died on July 13 while performing a dangerous car stunt for director PA Ranjith’s upcoming film featuring actor Arya.

The stunt went tragically wrong when the car missed its landing, flipped mid-air, and crashed, fatally injuring Raju. A video of the mishap quickly circulated online, sparking public outcry.

Following the incident, the Keelaiyur police in Tamil Nadu registered a case against PA Ranjith, stunt choreographer Rajkamal, Neelam Productions, and Prabhakaran.

Initially booked under Section 194 of the BNS Act, the charges were later updated to include culpable homicide, negligence, and abetment under Sections 106(1), 289, and 125 of the BNS.

Advocates say that if Section 106(1) is proved, the director may land in prison for a time up to 10 years. If Section 289 is proved he will be in prison in 6 months.

The film industry expressed deep grief over Raju’s death. Celebrities like Prithviraj Sukumaran and Vishal paid heartfelt tributes, acknowledging his courage and promising support to his family in this difficult time.
