Opinion: Media Overaction With Employee Unions

There is nothing wrong in agitating for something good. The responsibility of the media also can be understood in this scenario. But if anybody feels that they can either sustain the government or change it, then there wouldn't be any other foolishness than this.

We are talking about a section of media and some employee unions in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Ramoji Rao's image has been kept high stating that he is the one who made NTR a Chief Minister. Even until 2019, the yellow media boasted that it has prevented YSRCP from forming the government. The same pro TDP and anti YSRCP campaign was carried heavily by the yellow media even during the 2019 general elections.

It is a known fact that the media influences the mindsets of the voters to an extent. But that is not the only thing which can be decided on.

These days the people are not considering any media house as the pure representative of the fourth estate. People know that no media house runs without a political agenda or sympathy towards a political party. That's the reason, despite the yellow media's aggressive campaign, the result of the 2019 general election was very bad.

On the first day the employee unions and a section of media representatives made a protest with black badges by demanding a solution for the PRC announcement, CPS Dissolution etc. That is welcomed by everyone.

But Bandi Srinivas Rao, a protesting leader announced that there are 13 lakh employees in their union which has about 60 lakh vote bank that can potentially dethrone the government if they wish. This is the height of ignorance and foolishness. A section of media is seriously covering this.

The voters are not just employees in the state. There are many groups. By making these kinds of warnings, the people take both employees and the media lightly.
