If reports from the Telugu Desam Party are to be believed, the party is soon going to have its own media house shortly.
TDP general secretary and AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s son Lokesh Naidu has already registered a company in the name of Nirvana Media Private Limited, which is now being activated to launch a Telugu daily, apart from a channel and a digital media wing.
The ground work is being done and a senior journalist from rival paper has been consulted for taking over as the editor, sources say.
One may wonder why Naidu needs another media house, when the existing media, particularly two major media houses – Eenadu and Andhra Jyothy – are directly supporting him and are virtually behaving like TDP papers.
But, the chief minister feels the party needs its own paper and channel to promote the government; and the existing dailies cannot exclusively do the job.
However, there could also be another reason. The media house is an excellent place to park ill-gotten money, routing it through various suitcase companies and convert it into white. After all, when Sakshi can do it, why not Naidu?
