Telugu Desam Party general secretary Nara Lokesh, who took oath as an MLC on Thursday, is now a full-time politician.
Lokesh, who has been continuing as director of Heritage Group all these days while continuing in politics, was forced to resign from his post on Friday after he got elected as an MLC.
As an elected representative (though he is not in strict sense, as he got nominated to Legislative Council under MLAs’ quota), Lokesh should not hold any office of profit.
So, he had to resign from the family company, though he continues to be a shareholder by owning 23 lakh shares.
Lokesh has been the director of the Heritage for over a decade and even held the position of the Executive Director of the company, while his mother Bhuvaneshwari was the chairperson.
After entering politics, he entrusted the responsibilities to his wife Brahmani, who is presently running the company.
The newly-elected MLC gave his first speech in the legislative council on Friday and it was a sort of brief, thanksgiving speech.
He said he was very impressed with the atmosphere in the council, where the opposition members were also giving excellent suggestions to the government.
Nevertheless, Lokesh will face the real music when he steps into the assembly next week in the capacity of a minister, provided the cabinet expansion takes place on Sunday.
