No entry for Komatireddy, Sampath into assembly?

If the Telangana Rashtra Samithi government has its way, two Congress MLAs Komatireddy Venkat Reddy from Nalgonda and S A Sampath Kumar from Alampur would not be allowed into to the state assembly, notwithstanding the judgment of the state high court which revoked their expulsion on Tuesday.

Party sources indicated that the decision to expel the two MLAs and the issuance of gazette notification notifying their vacancies was taken entirely by Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary.

The TRS government is arguing that it had nothing to do with the expulsion of MLAs and so, it cannot be faulted for the Speaker’s decision.

Even if the high court restored their assembly membership, it is the prerogative of the Speaker to decide whether to allow the two MLAs into the House or not. The courts cannot interfere in the powers of the Speaker, who is supreme of the legislature.

And everybody knows Madhusudhana Chary is a TRS leader and he cannot dare take any step that antagonises party boss and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

So, technically Komatireddy and Sampath might have regained their assembly membership, they cannot enter the House till the Speaker decides to allow them.

The two Congress MLAs are planning to approach the high court again, if the Speaker refuses them entry into the House. But this time, they might not succeed, as the courts can never interfere in the Speaker’s powers!
