In a setback to Andhra Pradesh government's plans of launching construction works of new capital city 'Amaravathi' soon, the National Green Tribunal on Thursday issued notices to AP government for contempt of court over non-compliance of its earlier orders with regard to the construction of Amaravathi.
The tribunal also issued notices to the state environment and urban development departments and Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) for the contempt.
Several complaints were lodged against AP government in National Green Tribunal against illegal use of farm lands in the capital area during the recent foundation-laying ceremony.
The tribunal lashed out at AP government for not maintaining transparency and for failing to upload the permissions received for the construction of Amaravathi on its website.
The tribunal directed them to submit their explanation within a week.
