Naidu to host camp for Cong MLAs of K'taka?

Naidu to host camp for Cong MLAs of K'taka?

With the people of Karnataka giving a fractured verdict in the assembly elections, results of which were declared on Tuesday, the political situation in the state took a dramatic turn.

While the Bharatiya Janata Party with 104 seats which emerged as the single largest party in the state staked claim to form the government and sought a week’s time, the Congress party with 78 seats extended unconditional support to Janata Dal (Secular) which won 38 seats to form a coalition government. The Governor is yet to respond to the claims.

However, the Congress party leadership is suspecting that the BJP might try to engineer a split not only in the JD (S), but also in its own party.

Apparently, as many as six Congress MLAs hailing from Lingayat community are in touch with the BJP leadership, as they are unhappy with the party supporting the candidature of JD (S) leader H D Kumara Swamy as the chief minister, since he hails from Vokkaliga community.

Sensing the BJP conspiracy, the Congress leadership is learnt to have asked the Karnataka party unit to shift all the elected MLAs to various camps in Punjab and Andhra Pradesh.

Apparently, the party also contacted Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu to provide a secured accommodation to host the camp for some vulnerable Congress MLAs.

It is not exactly known what assurance Naidu had given, but at least 20-25 Congress MLAs would be taken to a camp in Andhra Pradesh so as to protect them from falling prey to the BJP baits.

Since Naidu has previous experience of hosting camps during the NTR regime, he might be helping the Congress party to take on the BJP!
