Naidu Finds Excuses On Polavaram Delay!

Naidu Finds Excuses On Polavaram Delay!

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu seems to have realised that his government may not be able to complete the Polavaram major irrigation project as per the deadline of 2018 end.

So, he has started looking for excuses for the delay, so that the people would not find fault with him. On Monday, Naidu realised that there is absolutely no progress in the works.

He sought to blame it on the sub-contractor Triveni Constructions, which has been doing the civil work. He pulled up the sub-contractors at the meeting and threatened to cancel the agreement given to it if it does not speed up the works by next week.

“I will go into the people and tell them that the delay in Polavaram project is due to negligent attitude of contractors,” Naidu said.

The Polavaram project has made little headway, notwithstanding the hype given by Naidu’s weekly review on its progress and the works have been going on at snail’s pace.

It is a known fact the contractor firm – Transstroy, promoted by TDP MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, has done little work on Polavaram project in the last four years since it was awarded the contract.

Still, Naidu has been favouring this company and even awarded additional works by raising the project cost.

He said he would review the progress of works every Monday to ensure that the project is completed by 2018 end. Yet, the Transstroy has cared a damn for his threats.

So, instead of taking action against his party MP’s company, he is threatening to blacklist the sub-contractors!
