YSR Congress party on Saturday accused Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu of looking for excuses to get rid of the Bharatiya Janata Party and cover up his own failures in getting funds from the Centre.
YSRC senior leader and former minister Dharmana Prasada Rao said Naidu was shedding crocodile tears now to gain political mileage, though he knew pretty well that his party, being a part of the NDA government, was also responsible for the Union budget which had meted out injustice to Andhra Pradesh.
“The budget was tabled in the Parliament only after the nod of the cabinet, of which TDP is a part, and now the Chief Minister feigning ignorance and speaking against it only shows that he wants to distance the BJP,” Dharmana said.
He alleged that Naidu had applauded the earlier budgets minutes after it was placed in the Parliament, but was now changing the tune.
“When the 2017 budget was presented he boasted that the State had got more than what was asked for and his reaction came within three hours after tabling the budget. We have been telling all the times the Union budget was presented, that the state was getting a raw deal and special category status along with other assurances were not taken into account,” he pointed out.
Dharmana said Naidu even discarded the special category status saying state had got more through special package. But he could get neither.
“Now that elections are fast approaching Chandrababu Naidu has changed the stance and has been telling through his favoured media that he would release a white paper,” he said.
