Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is supposed to be the chief minister for the entire state.
He is not expected to show partisan attitude towards anybody, particularly his personal business entities.
But, that is what Naidu seems to have done recently. It is a known fact that the loan waiver scheme announced by the chief minister has not been implemented properly and many farmers who believed him that he would waive all their loans are still left in the lurch.
What is worse, the banks are not coming forward to give them fresh crops loans, unless they clear their previous loan arrears.
Under these circumstances, what is a chief minister supposed to do? He has to hold a conference of bankers and convince them to give fresh crop loans to farmers, assuring them that the government would clear their loan arrears in due course. But, what did Naidu do?
He recently called a meeting of the Bank of Baroda officials and asked them to give fresh loans to farmers who are under contract of the Heritage Group to supply milk to the company. The bank authorities agreed for the same and granted loans of only Heritage farmers, while denying the same to other farmers.
Is it justified, Mr Naidu?
