Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s statement that he would happily handover the Polavaram project to the Centre, if it could complete it within the deadline, has exposed his incompetence and helplessness, rather than his confrontationist attitude towards the Centre.
His political rivals came down heavily on Naidu for making such a proposal.
“How can he run away from his responsibility after coming this far? It was Naidu who brought pressure on the Centre to hand over the Polavaram project to the state only for the sake of commissions.
Now that he has realised he cannot complete the project within deadline, he is trying to throw blame on the Centre for allegedly creating hurdles for the project,” Congress MP K V P Ramachandra Rao said.
Former MP Vundavalli Arun Kumar wondered how Naidu could express his inability to execute the Polavaram project works.
“Naidu is trying escape because the Centre has identified his nefarious designs and corrupt deals in executing the project works. Having come to this extent, he cannot go back shunning his responsibility,” Vundavalli said.
He wondered why the TDP government has not been able to execute Polavaram Project works even after it was accorded the status of a national project.
Now the Centre should shoulder the responsibility of completing the project, he said and added that the Chief Minister should mount pressure on the Centre towards funds release and other issues.
