If speculations doing rounds in the political circles are to be believed, YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is most likely to field Kapu strongman and former minister Mudragada Padmanabham as the party’s face in the Godavari districts in next elections.
According to the talk going on in political circles, Jagan is of the view that Mudragada’s ongoing movement for Kapu reservations is going to be a nemesis for the Telugu Desam Party in East and West Godavari districts, which have predominant number of Kapus.
With the YSR Congress party openly supporting Mudragada’s agitation, it hopes to turn all the Kapu votes in its favour, if Mudragada is able to sustain his movement.
That is precisely why Jagan is learnt to have sent his close aide Bhumana Karunakar Reddy to Mudragada for negotiations. If Mudragada agrees to be the front man of the YSRC by next elections, it would be great advantage to the party.
This is the reason behind Jagan’s call to Mudragada that he should continue his agitation not just for reservations but for pulling down of the Chandrababu Naidu government. The longer the Kapu reservations issue prolongs, the better will be for the YSRC.
It is learnt Jagan has assured to send Mudragada to Lok Sabha in the next general elections, if the latter can mobilise Kapu votes in favour of the YSRC.
