Mudragada planning to join BJP?

Mudragada planning to join BJP?

Bharatiya Janata Party, which is contemplating growing independently in southern states including Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, is said to be looking for potential leaders in Andhra Pradesh who can galvanise masses across the length and breadth of the state.

As part of the strategy, the BJP leadership is said to be trying to lure former minister and Kapu strongman Mudragada Padmanabham into the party.

Since almost all political parties are following caste-based politics, the BJP, too, has no option but to play the caste card. While the Kammas are backing the TDP, the Reddy community is solidly behind the YSR Congress party.

The Kapus, who have been shifting their loyalties between the TDP and the Congress in the past, do not have a party or a strong leader of their own and in the next elections, they might be compelled to shift towards the YSR Congress party.

Under these circumstances, the BJP leadership is of the view that if they can project a strong Kapu leader as the potential alternative, it can bag a considerable chunk of votes.

Though the party leadership is said to be already in touch with Chiranjeevi to bring him into the BJP, it cannot project him as effective leader since he had failed to lead his own party. So, the BJP top leadership is said to be eyeing Mudragada.

Since Jana Sena Party floated by Pawan Kalyan, also a Kapu, is likely to sail with the TDP, the BJP needs a strong leader like Mudragada.

Though there are reports that Mudragada might join the YSRC and contest as an MP in the next elections, he would be more than happy, if he gets such a lucrative offer from the BJP itself. And there is no stronger person than Mudragada to counter Naidu!

Sources said the BJP leadership has contacted Mudragada and agreed to consider his demand for inclusion of Kapus into the OBC list, provided he joined the party. However, Mudragada sought some time to take a decision.
