MP-MLA dispute reaches Tadepalli: Will Jagan settle it?

MP-MLA dispute reaches Tadepalli: Will Jagan settle it?

The open tussle between YSR Congress party MP from Rajahmundry Margani Bharat and party MLA from Rajanagaram assembly constituency Jakkampudi Raja has at last reached the doorstep of party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy in Tadepalli.

With the infighting reaching its peak posing a threat to the party in East Godavari district, Jagan summoned both the MP and the MLA by sending them a message through senior YSRC leader and Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams chairman Y V Subba Reddy, who also happens to be the party in-charge of the district.

Bharat and Jakkampudi have been asked to come to Tadepalli and meet Jagan on Tuesday evening to present their version. The party president is expected to talk to both of them individually and try to bring about a compromise between the two.

“He might also send a stern warning to the MP and MLA for going to the media to wash their dirty linen in public,” sources said.

Both the leaders have been making allegations against each other on various issues including sand mining and local contracts.

The MLA even accused the MP of joining hands with TDP and BJP leaders, besides former Central Bureau of Investigation joint director V V Lakshminarayana, which the MP has denied.

Apparently, Jagan has received the feedback that the differences between Bharat and Jakkampudi led to emergence of groupism in the party in East Godavari district.

This was reflected in the selection of mandal parishad and zilla parishad chairpersons and there were revolts within the party against the official candidates.

Though the YSRC high command initially ignored the developments, thinking that they are very common in every political party, it has later realised that the things are going out of hands in the district. That is why, Jagan personally intervened the issue and called the warring groups to Tadepalli to resolve the disputes, sources said.
