Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has ridiculed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for announcing that he would observe one-day fast in New Delhi on Thursday in protest against the disruption of Parliamentary proceedings by opposition parties.
“It was Modi, not the opposition parties, who was responsible for the recent logjam in Parliament. It was Modi who indirectly provoked the AIADMK MPs to stall the proceedings of the House, to avoid facing no-confidence motion proposed by the Opposition parties,” Naidu alleged, while talking to a group of national media persons on the sidelines of a dinner hosted for delegates attending the three-day Happy Cities Summit that began in Amaravati on Tuesday.
He said Modi could have prevented the logjam in Lok Sabha by constituting the Cauvery Board as demanded by the AIADMK.
“In fact, the Supreme Court itself ordered that the Cauvery Board be constituted and the Centre could have followed the order. Who stopped Modi from doing it?” he said.
“Our MPs attracted the attention of the entire nation and all the parties in the country about the injustice meted out to Andhra Pradesh by the NDA government. We thoroughly exposed the Modi government which had failed to fulfil the promises made in AP Reorganisation Act, including granting of special category status to AP,” he said.
