There is no doubt that YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy has been getting tremendous response from the people during his ongoing padayatra, which has entered eighth day on Tuesday.
People are coming in large numbers to see the young leader walking on the roads, blessing him and extending their support to him. And Jagan is trying to meet everybody personally to know the issues plaguing the area.
So far so good. But his yatra has become a big nuisance to the media, not because they have to cover it for the next six months regularly, but because of the over-action of his publicity team.
While the television channels are giving some coverage, if not big, on a daily basis, the print media has been largely ignoring him, unless he makes some major announcements like launch of Amma Vodi scheme or a BC rally etc.
But the publicity team of Jagan is flooding the media persons with hundreds of pictures of his padayatra from morning to evening.
Starting at 8 AM, every media person in the state is bombarded with not less than a dozen photographs every one hour along with a note on his speeches or response from the public on his or her WhatsApp group.
Same photographs and press notes also pour in from different sources – Prashant Kishor camp, YSRC media cell and of course, Sakshi team.
By evening, the WhatsApp folder of the reporter is getting blocked with hundreds of Jagan’s pictures. This is apart from the pictures and texts being sent to the media houses through mail.
A journalist wondered what he would be able to do with so many pictures every day.
“First of all, we cannot carry Jagan’s report on a daily basis because he repeats the same talk every day.
Even if we carry his speeches regularly, we can take one or at the most two, pictures of his padayatra. But we are being flooded with hundreds of Jagan’s pictures.
After all, we cannot publish a gallery of pictures every day no? I don’t think even Sakshi does it,” the reporter lamented.
