Major changes in TDP ahead of Mahandu?

Major changes in TDP ahead of Mahandu?

The Telugu Desam Party, led by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, is expected to undergo a major organisational reshuffle during its biennial conclave, Mahanadu, scheduled to be held in Kadapa on May 27 and 28.

According to party sources, the leadership plans to induct younger faces into key positions while shifting senior leaders into advisory roles. However, senior members who remain actively involved in party affairs are likely to continue in important roles.

There is strong speculation that Naidu’s son, current TDP General Secretary and State Information Technology Minister Nara Lokesh, will be appointed as the party’s Working President.

Meanwhile, senior actor and current politburo member Nandamuri Balakrishna is expected to be elevated to the position of General Secretary.

The politburo may also see a wave of young leaders closely aligned with Lokesh taking on leadership roles, though some senior members are expected to retain their positions.

Additionally, the party is said to be considering greater representation for women leaders in its revamped structure.

The TDP politburo, which is meeting at the party’s headquarters in Mangalagiri, is likely to endorse these changes ahead of their formal implementation at Mahanadu, sources said.

“This year’s Mahanadu will lay the roadmap for the party’s future. It’s clear that Lokesh will play a pivotal role in the organisational restructuring, paving the way for his eventual projection as the party’s future Chief Ministerial candidate,” a senior party source added.
