Luxury flats for Andhra MLAs, IAS officers!

If the Chandrababu Naidu government has its way, MLAs and IAS officers of Andhra Pradesh will soon be living luxury flats in Amaravati, the new capital of the state.

According to official sources, as many as 18 towers of luxury flats for the MLAs, MLCs, IAS officers and other top Group-I officers are going to come up in Amaravati. Each flat will have built-up area of 3,500 sq ft and the towers will include a clubhouse and parking.

The chief minister who reviewed the progress on the housing project for government employees at a meeting of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA), approved the proposal.

The designs for the towers and villas and blueprints and layouts of houses were presented to him by Team One India Pvt Ltd.

Official sources said the government had finalized NCC, L&T and Shapoorji Pallonji as the contractors for the completion of the housing project within the next six months.

Naidu revised administration sanction for the housing to Rs 2,652 crore, from the previous proposed cost of Rs 1,991 crore.

While the Non-Gazetted Officers (NGOs) will have 22 towers with each flat comprising built-up area of 1,200 sq feet.

Type-1 Gazetted officers will have 8 towers (with flats of 1,800 sq feet each) and Type-2 Gazetted officers will have 7 towers (each flat of 1,500 sq feet).

Class IV officers will have six towers with flats of 900 sq feet.
