If the talk going on in the media circles is true, Congress party's Rajya Sabha member K V P Ramachandra Rao is playing the role of backroom advisor for YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
According to sources, though still associated with the Congress party, KVP is seriously giving suggestions to Jagan behind the screen on working out political strategies to counter the Telugu Desam Party.
In fact, it was only on the advice of KVP that Jagan has admitted former minister and senior TDP leader Shilpa Mohan Reddy from Nandyal into the YSRC, thought the YSRC president was not very keen on taking him.
And Shilpa happens to be the close follower of KVP during the regime of late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy.
In the initial days of forming the YSRC, Jagan never used to heed to the advice of KVP but behave independently.
However, after the debacle in 2014 elections, Jagan realised the importance of KVP. Subsequently, Jagan approached KVP and patched up the differences.
In the recent past, Jagan was in regular touch with KVP seeking his advices.
May be, in future, KVP will play a key role in the selection of candidates for the YSRC in the next elections, say sources.
