KTR's follower Dayakar got TRS Warangal LS ticket, Cong chose Rajaiah!

The Congress party has finally selected former MP Siricilla Rajaiah as its candidate while TRS opted for KTR's staunch follower Pasunuri Dayakar for ensuing Warangal Lok Sabha by-poll.

Though the Congress tried to field in former Peddapalli MP and industrialist G Vivek, he refused to contest and made it clear that he will confine only to his Peddapalli constituency in Karimangar district, the seat he lost in 2014 elections to TRS youth leader Balka Suman.

Interestingly, Siricilla Rajaiah lost to Kadiam Srihari by over 3.50 lakh votes in Warangal Lok Sabha seat in 2014 elections as sitting MP.

The by-poll was necessitated following the resignation of Kadiam early this year after he was inducted into KCR’s cabinet and made Deputy CM. Kadiam was subsequently nominated as MLC by TRS party.

After Vivek dropped from the fray, the name of former Malkajgiri MP Sarvey Satyanarayana was doing the rounds. But the Congress high command finally chosen Siricilla Rajaiah on ‘local grounds’.

Siricilla Rajaiah said that he would win with a comfortable majority of over 1.5 lakh votes in the by-poll as people are vexed with anti-people and anti-poor policies of TRS government during the last 17 months.

TRS, on the other hand, has already announced Pasunuri Dayakar as its candidate. Mr. Dayakar designed the basic model of Telangana Talli statues. He is known to the staunch follower of IT minister K.T.Rama Rao, who is the son of TRS party chief and CM K.Chandrasekhar Rao.

Though followers of KCR’s nephew and minister T Harish Rao and KCR’s daughter and Nizamabad MP K Kavita also tried their best to secure the ticket, the party boss KCR is learnt to have preferred KTR over the other two and sent a clear signal that his son KTR will be his political heir after 2019 elections.

KCR zeroed-in on Mr. Dayakar, a graduate in Fine Arts from JNTU here, after weighing the pros and cons of several aspirants, including the daughter of Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari, and the wife of former Deputy Chief Minister S. Rajaiah, and Prof. Sambaiah.

Even the names of Manda Jagannatham and Errolla Srinivas from other districts were also examined.

However, KCR was understood to have insisted upon picking up a local candidate, particularly the one associated with the party from the beginning.

Accordingly, Mr. Dayakar fulfilled all such qualifications as he has been the party’s general secretary in the district from 2001 to 2009, district youth wing president from 2009 to 2011 and Wardhannapet constituency in-charge from 2011 to 2013. He has been functioning as the state secretary since 2013.

He aspired for Assembly ticket twice in the past but lost out due to various political equations.
