So-called senior journalist V V R Krishnamraju, who is accused No. 1 in the case related to making of objectionable and offensive remarks referring to "Amaravati as the capital of prostitutes" during a debate on Sakshi TV, has shown no remorse or regret for his despicable comments.
According to the remand report filed by the police in the court, Krishnam Raju admitted to have made the comments as he had utter contempt for chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and ruling Telugu Desam Party.
Moreover, only Sakshi has been giving a lot of prominence to him and so, he had used the platform to criticise the Naidu government and Amaravati capital, the police said.
Despite the outrage over his derogatory statements that deeply insulted the women of the Amaravati region, Krishnam Raju has not issued an apology.
Instead, he reportedly went a step further by creating and releasing videos on YouTube defending and justifying his remarks, stating there was nothing wrong in what he said, according to the police.
They further told the court that Krishnam Raju, being fully aware that Amaravati is home to people from various communities, castes, and religions, deliberately made such inflammatory statements.
His intention, they alleged, was to demean and humiliate all women of the region — especially Dalit and tribal women — thereby hurting their dignity and self-respect.
Police pointed out that the senior journalist was well aware that many individuals serving in high-ranking positions — including High Court judges, members of the district and subordinate judiciary, IAS and IPS officers, and other top-level bureaucrats — reside in and around the Amaravati region.
“Despite this knowledge, he made those derogatory remarks with malicious intent,” the police said, while presenting him before the Additional Judicial Magistrate of First Class-cum-Civil Judge Court in Mangalagiri.
In their remand report submitted to the court, they elaborated on Krishnamraju’s involvement in the conspiracy behind the offensive comments, his role, the forces backing him, and other key findings from the preliminary investigation.
