KCR to skip Mamata rally in Kolkata

KCR to skip Mamata rally in Kolkata

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is most likely to skip the proposed rally of opposition parties being organized by Trinamul Congress Party chief Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata on January 19.

Reason is simple: He does not want to share dais with Congress president Rahul Gandhi, who has also been invited to the rally, along with Andhra Pradesh chief minister and Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu and others.

Obviously, KCR will not comfortable with both of them, as he had called Rahul the biggest buffoon in the country and Naidu as dirtiest politician in the country.

It is not exactly known whether KCR really got an invitation from Mamata for the rally. TRS deputy floor leader in the Lok Sabha B Vinod Kumar feigned ignorance about the invitation extended to KCR.

“I am not aware of it. He might have got the invitation. But I do not think KCR will attend when Rahul Gandhi is attending,” he said.

KCR recently met Mamata in Kolkata as part of his renewed efforts towards forging a ‘non-Congress, non-BJP’ federal front of regional parties. After the meeting, Mamata refused to comment on KCR’s proposal for the federal front without Congress.

KCR had also recently met Odisha chief minister and Biju Janata Dal (BJP) chief Naveen Patnaik seeking to drum up support for the federal front. Unlike Mamata, the Odisha chief minister said he would not join the grand alliance comprising the Congress.

Vinod said Samajwadi Party (SP) chief and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, who could not meet KCR during the latter’s visit to Delhi recently, was expected to visit the southern state “any time” to talk to the Telangana chief minister.

On BSP supremo Mayawati’s stance on KCR’s federal front, he said, “We did not discuss with her”.
