KCR to begin national march from Andhra?

Within hours of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) transforming into Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Wednesday, speculations have started in the political circles on the future plans of party president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

According to a section of party leaders, the immediate focus of KCR is on winning the by-election to Munugode assembly seat in Nalgonda, after which he will make a whirlwind tour of various states.

Sources said the first state which KCR wants to conquer will be Andhra Pradesh. It is learnt the BRS national president has proposed to address a huge public meeting in Andhra Pradesh to make his party’s presence felt.

According to these sources, KCR is contemplating to hold the public meeting somewhere between Vijayawada and Guntur. He has already contacted some prominent leaders in the central coastal Andhra to discuss the strategy and attract huge crowds.

Apparently, KCR’s objective in choosing the place between Vijayawada and Guntur is to destabilise the Telugu Desam Party, which is considered to be regaining its lost ground there. He is also expected to make a pitch for Amaravati capital region to attract the voters.

KCR’s intention is not to emerge as an alternative political force to YSR Congress party led by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy immediately, but he wants the BRS to get a footing in Andhra and secure some percentage of votes, so that it would get the national party status.

The YSR Congress party has reacted cautiously to the development.

“We have no objection to the launch of any national party. But if they tried to create any troubles for our party, we shall retaliate strongly,” state roads and buildings minister Jogi Ramesh said.

Another senior YSRC leader and Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) trust board chairman Y V Subba Reddy said anybody can float any party in any state.

“But no party is a match for the YSRC. The welfare schemes will bring Jagan back to power,” he said.
