It appears stage is set for the sacking of Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLC and Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha from the party, following her explosive comments against party seniors including former minister T Harish Rao and former Rajya Sabha member Joginapalli Santosh.
Kavitha, who returned from her US trip on Monday, addressed a press conference at her residence in the evening wherein she made serious comments against Harish Rao and Santosh, accusing them of amassing huge wealth in the Kaleshwaram project scam and making her father K Chandrasekhar Rao a scapegoat.
With the government considering a CBI probe into the Kaleshwaram project, Kavitha launched sharp attacks, alleging that all corruption in the project was orchestrated by Harish Rao.
She went so far as to comment that if the probe extends to KCR himself, the future of the BRS party would be at stake.
Kavitha expressed anguish that the situation had reached a point where a CBI inquiry was being sought against a "great leader" like KCR.
“If it has come to a CBI probe against KCR, does it even matter whether the party survives or not?” she asked.
She asserted that she would remain independent and demanded a direct inquiry into those she had named, claiming that the real facts would then come out.
Calling Harish Rao and Santosh Rao "corruption anacondas", Kavitha described her father KCR as a god-like figure.
She alleged that Revanth Reddy was behind the negative social media campaigns run against her by Harish and Santosh and claimed that they were operating with well-organized groups.
Declaring that she would not be intimidated, Kavitha openly challenged Harish and Santosh. She also questioned why BRS had not called for a Telangana bandh when Revanth announced a CBI probe into Kaleshwaram.
Kavitha said that KCR had done so much for Telangana that he barely even cared for his own well-being.
She expressed pain that a CBI probe was being ordered against her father, lamenting that the man celebrated as the hero who achieved Telangana was now being dragged through the mud.
“From now on, will everyone call KCR a CBI case?” she asked. She warned that if her father’s reputation was tarnished, it would also damage their family’s honour. She questioned why the party itself was not responding strongly to the investigation, saying that losing an election is one thing, but losing one’s honor is far worse.
She claimed that it was because of Harish Rao and Santosh Rao that KCR was being forced to face a probe.
Kavitha also alleged that Harish and Santosh had used KCR’s name to build their own wealth and resources, and that even now KCR continued to tolerate their actions.
Reiterating that Harish Rao played a major role in the Kaleshwaram project, Kavitha said that Megha Krishna Reddy, Harish Rao, and Santosh were responsible for the current situation.
She defended KCR, saying that his focus was solely on Telangana and its people, not on personal matters.
She added that the Kaleshwaram project would be remembered for 200 years for KCR’s vision and accused Revanth Reddy of acting to implement the agenda of neighboring states.
