Following the tragic stampede in Tamil Nadu in which 41 people died at actor Vijay’s political rally, nothing seems to have changed on the ground.
The ruling party DMK has apparently commissioned a survey to find out the impact of the Karur incident on the people of Tamil Nadu and the results have gladdened the hearts of the DMK.
The survey said that Vijay’s popularity is intact and his TVK Party can garner around 23% of the vote share in Tamil Nadu whereas DMK and its allies still stand strong at 50% currently.
The AIADMK and BJP are looking for an alliance with Vijay but the survey says that Vijay’s vote share might actually go down if he gets into an arrangement with any other Party.
But if he were to fight the election alone, he might emerge as the principal opposition in the State.
In fact, Vijay is said to be looking at the long haul but should he enter into an alliance with the AIADMK and BJP he could well win their support as the Chief Ministerial candidate.
But Vijay repeatedly has said he would not entertain the BJP although he did not dismiss the AIADMK.
The DMK meanwhile is happy that it is strongly entrenched and very likely to retain power again.
