Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is known for “self-dabba.”
He always claims that he works for over 18 hours a day for the welfare of the state and that he had even neglected his family members for the sake of people.
As if to support his claims, his family members, too, often talk about his penchant to serve the people at the cost of his family.
His son and TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh claimed several times that Naidu is so busy with his public service that he doesn’t even find time to play with his grandson Devansh.
As a result, the two-year old grandson doesn’t recognise Naidu as his grandfather sometimes, except in photographs.
Now, Naidu’s daughter-in-law and Lokesh’s wife Nara Brahmani has gone a step ahead to convince the people how workaholic he is.
In an interview to the Sunday magazine of the popular Telugu daily Eenadu, Brahmani claimed that her father-in-law is so engrossed in his work that he does not even remember festivals.
Recalling an incident, Brahmani said Naidu was holding an official meeting on Deepavali, too, without realising that it was a festive day.
The meeting went on for long hours and the officials, who were eager to go home to celebrate the festival, were sitting on the edge of the seats waiting for Naidu to end the meeting. But nobody had the courage to remind Naidu that it was a festival day and that they had to go home to celebrate.
“At this stage, Lokesh took the initiative. He burst a cracker outside the CM’s chamber and it was then Naidu realised that it was Diwali on that day. He immediately called off the meeting and after due apologies, he let the officials to go home. Such was his dedication towards work,” she recalled.
