Union Minister for Information Technology S Jaipal Reddy, who used to maintain utmost restraint while talking about the Telangana statehood issue in the past, is now talking rather boldly and openly.
Obviously, Jaipal is emboldened by the decision taken by the Congress Working Committee and the Centre to divide the state to form separate Telangana State. And he has to take credit for playing a crucial role in taking the decision, so that it would help him return to Parliament in the next elections.
On Saturday, Jaipal strongly reiterated that a separate State of Telangana was now a reality and no force on earth could prevent its formation.
"Telangana State formation is an historical decision taken by AICC president Sonia Gandhi and no one can reverse it”, he observed.
Stating that carving out a separate Telangana State had become inevitable because even after 1000 years the people of the two regions cannot live together, Jaipal Reddy said this had prompted the Central leadership to concede the long pending demand of the Telangana people for a State of their own.
“The people of Telangana region suffered for 60 years due to lack of administration and misuse of financial allocations”, he pointed out and said the only way out for the Telangana from such exploitation was a separate State if its own.
